Creating Pockets of Beauty and Order

I have a new challenge, but it's one of my own creation. I have seen the difference that small changes in my home make on the overall atmosphere. Home Sanctuary's Small Things and Flylady's Baby Steps have taught me that. But now I'm taking off on a challenge inspired by several books I've read and presentations I've heard recently. I'm calling it The Pocket Challenge.

The Pocket Challenge is all about creating pockets of order and beauty. I'm challenging myself to create one pocket of order and beauty per day for the rest of February. Pockets of order and beauty are simply those little areas, currently ranging from "blah" to "eyesore" that need something. Maybe they need cleaning or decluttering or maybe they just need a spot of color.

Since I have next to no budget for this, most, if now all of these will be using what I already have. I know I have a few pretty things tucked away here and there that could be put to better use and of course, cleaning and decluttering is free.

Anyone else interested in joining me in this challenge?

I'm giving a special shout-out to all the Company Girls visiting from the Home Sanctuary Company Girl Coffee link up. Welcome!

I LOVE your Pocket Challenge. I think that's been my attitude. Tackling one thing here and there - keeping my desk organized and useful. Getting dishes done and shining my sink before bed. Those pockets make a difference. BRILLIANT plan!!!

What a great idea! I've fallen behind on the Minimum Maintenance and Small Things at Home Sanctuary and I plan to spend this next week working harder on my home. But yes, I always seem to find these sad little spaces that need help. I feel like I need to bring some Spring into my house!

Great idea! And no budget is right up my alley!

I totally get the no budget thing! Besides, not having money just means you have to be a bit more creative (and then you normally get better results anyway, at least in my experience) Great idea on how to break the big picture down to pixels.

This is a great idea. I hope I can join in, though I will first need to get caught up on more basic tasks before I look into the cluttered corners. Hopefully I can this week.
